THE COSTA DEL SOL

Torremolinos Benalmadena Fuengirola

Waterpark Fuengirola Spain

It was first colonized by the Phoenicians. Fuengirola today has all the features of a modern costal tourist center with high rise buildings, plush beach cottages and apartments, shopping centers, entertainment facilities and a very lively nightlife.

The new, wide, promenade with plenty of palm trees and colourful flower beds; and bench seating make for a pleasant walk.  Fuengirola sea front is a favourite place for tourists and local families alike.

Castello Sohail, an ancient Moorish castle, sits on the top of a hill near the beach; it should be visited for the breathtaking vista of the coast, the sea and the far off horizon. In the summer, several concerts are organized to attract the tourists.

There are also installations for wind surfing, beach volleyball and other water sports. This too, like the others, was a quiet village which was soon filled with jolly visitors who came to enjoy the renowned sun and sand experience. On Tuesday’s, the weekly market El Mercadillo is held along the coast which is popular among locals and tourists alike. It is the biggest outdoor market on the coast and attracts visitors from nearby resorts as well. It is well worth going down to browse at the wide range of wares for sale including traditional Andalucian produce. There are a variety of restaurants and Tapas bars offering fresh seafood prepared using local recipes. And if you feel like it, there is all the international fare available along the coast.
